YouTube Summarizer

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy covers the YouTube Summarizer app for iOS and Android, and the summarizer service the app calls on clipostack.com. It does not cover the ClipoStack video studio. That product has its own privacy page.

What the app does

You paste a YouTube link. The app reads that video’s public captions and returns a short summary, the key points, and one takeaway. You can use it without an account. An account is how you keep a history, save a video for later, and favorite a summary.

Information we collect

  • Device id. A random id stored on your phone. We use it to apply the free monthly credit allowance when you are not signed in. It is not your name and it is not an advertising id.
  • Account, if you create one. Your email, a hashed password when you register with email, or an Apple identifier when you use Sign in with Apple. We do not store your password in plain text. We also store a name when the sign-in provider sends one, and the time you last signed in.
  • Videos you summarize. The YouTube video id, title, channel name, and thumbnail address. Public captions for that video are sent to an AI provider so it can write the summary. We store the summary: the short text, the key points, and the takeaway. Signed-in users also have a history, saved videos, and favorites.
  • Credits and purchases. Your credit balance, whether a subscription is active, the store product id, and the transaction id from Apple or Google. We do not receive your card number. Apple and Google process the payment.
  • IP address. Used only to limit how many summaries one network can request in an hour. That counter stays in memory on the server and is not saved on your account.

How we use it

We use this information to write summaries, keep your credit balance, show history and saved videos, apply subscriptions and credit packs, and limit abuse. We do not sell your personal information.

Who else receives it

  • YouTube. We request the public video details and captions for the link you paste.
  • An AI provider. The captions and the video title are sent so a model can write the summary. The provider processes that text to return the summary and does not receive your account password.
  • Apple or Google. Sign in with Apple, and in-app purchases on the App Store or Google Play. Payment details stay with the store.

How long we keep it

The latest summary for a video is kept so the same video does not have to be summarized from scratch again. Your history, saved videos, favorites, credit balance, and purchase records stay while the account exists. A device credit record stays with that device id.

Your choices

Sign out to end the session on that phone. You can keep using the app without an account, within the free monthly credits. In the app, open Account and tap Delete account. That removes the account and the history, saved videos, favorites, and purchase records tied to it. A Google Play subscription is canceled at the same time, so it will not renew. An App Store subscription has to be canceled in the App Store before the account can be deleted, because Apple does not let the app turn off renewal. If you cannot open the app, send the same request through the contact form.

Children

YouTube Summarizer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
